Summer Solstice
Summer Solstice
Point on the ecliptic where the Sun is at its northernmost point above the celestial equator, occurring on or near June 21.
Today is the official first day of summer, so I opted for an appropriate photo to recognize this. This capture was made in the water feature at The Gateway, an outdoor mall in Salt Lake City. It’s a great place to gather on a warm summer day.

That’s a very evocative photo. I can almost feel that cold wet water!

We had about 2 hours and 15 minutes from sunset to sunrise. The midnite sun baseball game started at 10:30 pm and played 10 innings without lights. It is against the rules to turn on the lights at the summer solstice game.
