My Daily Carry Gear Bag

I get a few emails each month asking about my camera gear. In response, here is an image of my “daily carry” gear bag along with a list of its contents. The gear I carry is an ever-changing list, so this is as-of today.
Bag
LowePro Vertex 100AW backpack
Contents
Canon 5D body
Canon BG-E4 battery grip
Canon 24-105 f/4L IS lens
Canon 70-200 f/4L lens
Canon 1.4x extender
Canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 lens (mainly for my backup 30D body)
Canon 100-300 f/4.5-5.6 lens (mainly for my backup 30D body)
Canon 50 f/1.8 lens
Mamiya 50 f/1.8 lens with Canon adapter
Sekonic L-358 light meter
Canon 430EX strobe
Canon G7 point-and-shoot camera (for being less obvious)
Apple MacBook
Batteries, chargers and cables
LiteDisc white/silver reflector
I have a couple other bags including a small one with my backup 30D, but this is the main rig. What do you carry when you can only take one bag? Any recommendations for me?
Canon 30D, Canon 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 lens – 1/30 second, f/5.6, ISO 100

You should toss a lensbaby into the mix. If not a TtV contraption.

A ziplock with ibuprofen and an SPF 50 sunscreen stick (doesn’t melt in black bags).

Wireless remotes for the strobe. :-)
Why not put the 28-105 in the bag with the 30D and make room for something else?

I haven’t been shooting long, but I found rubber bands and/or a bungy cord can come in handy at times.

Hi,
I’m interested in the 100AW backpack. Since I would like to take it as handluggage this summer, I have to deal with the restrictions in size that the airline demands. Width and Length shouldn’t be a problem. However the bag should nog measure more than 20cm (7,8 inches)in depth. Lowepro states its 25cm. Could you tell me if (with no laptop inside), the bag somehow comes near that 20cm?
I would appreciate an answer very much.
Kind regards, Michel

Why do you carry both a Canon 50 f/1.8 lens and a
Mamiya 50 f/1.8 lens with Canon adapter? What’s the advantage of the Mamiya lens?
